A Citywide Commitment to Main Streets
The Baltimore Main Streets Program is embedded within the Mayor's Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development. The Program supports nine local non-profit revitalization organization partners in accredited local Main Street Communities across the city in placemaking and working towards operational excellence.
Through targeted resources, technical assistance, investment, and partnerships, the Baltimore Main Streets program empowers local businesses to thrive while strengthening our small business ecosystem.
From Park Heights in Northwest Baltimore to Highlandtown in Southeast Baltimore, each Main Street reflects the distinct businesses, people, and character of its community.
Our Story
Baltimore Main Streets was launched by the Mayor's Office in 2000, as one of the earliest major cities in the country to apply the Main Street model across multiple commercial corridors.
Built on a nationally recognized approach to community-driven economic development, Baltimore adapted the model to meet the unique needs of its neighborhoods.
More than 25 years later, Baltimore Main Streets are placemaking by continuing to connect local leadership, businesses, City resources, community partners, and residents to create stronger commercial districts and more vibrant revitalized communities.
